The Economist is a leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs, delivering information through various formats. We're seeking a skilled Test Automation Architect to join our Central Automation team.

The successful candidate will collaborate with business units to establish, approve, and monitor:

  • Test engineering practices
  • Test engineering principles
  • Testing standards

You'll be part of a friendly and inclusive team that empowers autonomy and develops capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

How You'll Contribute

  • Work closely with the Head of Quality Engineering to ensure Test Automation Strategy is followed
  • Coach teams in test automation best practices and principles
  • Apply and uphold industry standards for testing tools and techniques, advising on their application
  • Help define ways to improve test engineering processes, embracing our shift left approach
  • Hold regular brown bag sessions

Experience, Skills, and Professional Attributes

The Ideal Skills for This Role Include

  • Significant experience in creating test automation frameworks for various testing types
  • Significant experience in test automation design for ease of use, maintenance, and scalability
  • Significant experience in integrating reporting engines with test automation frameworks
  • Significant programming experience in multiple languages
  • Significant experience in implementing mocking tools
  • Significant experience in using distributed version control systems
  • Significant experience in using continuous integration
  • Significant experience in coaching/mentoring colleagues in test automation
  • Solid communication skills
