Radiology Specialist Practitioner

As a specialist in radiology, you will be responsible for coordinating the provision of gastrointestinal investigations services for children within the directorate. This will involve assessing and supervising the needs of children undergoing procedures, as well as developing and implementing appropriate programs of care.

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children provides a local service for Bristol children and a referral service for specialist care for families across the Southwest. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be expected to act as a role model and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a high standard of holistic care is maintained for all patients and their families.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a resource of specialist knowledge and expertise to ensure optimum and appropriate care delivery to children and their families.
  • Participating in and encouraging effective multi-disciplinary team working to provide a high-quality service.
  • Helping to promote an environment conducive to the needs of patients, their relatives, and friends.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients, carers, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Delegating appropriately the responsibility for patient care and surveillance during investigations.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation is provided in patient records of the care and investigations undertaken.
  • Undertaking all appropriate aspects of care required within the specialty, including advanced clinical skills.
  • Providing specialist advice and support to patients, their families, and carers from the time of referral and throughout investigations.
  • Being involved and supporting the development, improvement, management, and promotion of the service to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.
  • Being involved and supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of adherence to relevant clinical guidelines.
