Specialist Doctor Opportunity in Memory Assessment Service

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Doctor to join our Memory Assessment Service in Derbyshire. As a Specialist Doctor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients with cognitive impairment and dementia.

The Memory Assessment Service is a clinic-based team with two main bases in Derby and Bolsover. We offer flexible working arrangements, including face-to-face clinics, virtual meetings, and remote diagnosing. Our team is multi-disciplinary, comprising a Dementia Nurse Specialist, NMPs, Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychology, and a supportive admin team.

As a Specialist Doctor, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in dementia care. You will work closely with the nursing team and NMPs to provide holistic care to patients. We offer supervision and opportunities for personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise NMPs and support their clinical development.
  • Contribute to the clinical development of the team.
  • Provide medical assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological treatment, and medicines management.
  • Collaborate with the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Experience in old age Psychiatry or general adult psychiatry.
  • Experience in Medicine for the elderly.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
  • Ability to engage in in-house training for other staff members in aspects of dementia, assessment, and diagnosis.
