Import Clerk Job Description

PE Global is seeking an experienced Import Clerk to join our team in Warrington. This is a 6-month contract role with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a Duty Management System for a manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Raise and send Import Instructions to Agents, guaranteeing full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all import entries are raised, completed, and filed by due dates to support team KPIs and compliance.
  • Support the continued use of Simplified Customs Declaration Procedures by ensuring timely and compliant import entries.
  • Authorise and verify customs clearance agencies' use of the company's deferment account and apportion costs internally.
  • Support trade compliance practices to ensure they are maintained and adhered to.
  • Maintain the Imports Master Log for accurate records for audit and trade compliance purposes.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvements by reviewing processes to maximise efficiency and duty recovery.
  • Liaise with suppliers, shipping lines, and haulers regarding the movement of goods.
  • Process and finalise insurance claims as applicable under the Maritime Insurance Policy.
  • Provide basic guidance and support to internal and external customers on customs requirements.
Core Requirements:
  • UK Import or Export formalities knowledge
  • ERP system knowledge (i.e. SAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous Supply Chain experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills coupled with the ability to work to tight deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills. The job involves broad-based contact with overseas suppliers and external agencies in addition to a wide range of internal contacts.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills, ability to analyse potential alternatives and provide suitable solutions.
  • A positive approach with recognition of the need to focus on the requirements of customers (both internal and external).
Optional:
  • Analytics / Tableau experience
  • Understanding of LEAN Principles
  • Previous experience using a Duty Management System.
