Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the care of older adults, with a focus on dementia, delirium, and frailty.
  • Develop and implement education and training programs for nursing staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of our Older People's care services, working closely with senior medical colleagues to drive improvement and innovation.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality care, and provide guidance and support to staff to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Develop and maintain links with educational and academic providers to ensure our nursing staff have access to the latest research and best practices.
  • Drive improvement in service quality and patient experience for older adults, both in hospital and in care homes.
  • Take a direct role in service development, research, and evaluation, ensuring that our services are safe, effective, caring, well-led, and responsive to the needs of our patients.
Requirements
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner level or expert level practice of care of older adults.
  • Management qualification or significant senior management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of significant professional and managerial development, including a comprehensive and relevant CPD portfolio.
  • Counselling qualification.
  • Experience of clinical practice development and applying continuous quality improvement methodology to develop services.
  • Experience in supporting and managing complex psychosocial situations.
  • Knowledge of current developments in nursing and political awareness of NHS.
  • Educational experience and an ability to design and deliver educational programs to meet the needs of health professionals.
  • Experience of developing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard setting, ability to work with academics to develop research and audit driven by clinical priorities.
