Aflac NI is seeking a dynamic and inquisitive Data Scientist to join our team at the leading edge of data science & analytics. As a hybrid role, you will spend 2 days a week on-site at our Belfast offices, collaborating with our team to enhance our data practice and drive business outcomes.

Our Data Science team leads on exploring new insights from our data, providing the building blocks for new products, benefits, and offerings within the supplemental health insurance industry. We are looking for a collaborative individual who can help us grow our expertise and turn research and experimentation into actual beneficial outcomes for our customers and business.

The Role

We want an open-minded, free-thinking Data Scientist who enjoys solving complex business problems and providing data-driven solutions to our business partners. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing statistical and machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and improve the accuracy of our data and data-driven decisions.
  • Working closely with data engineers to maximize the outcomes of our research and the impact on our customers.
  • Using visual tools to demonstrate your findings and communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or comparable commercial experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience programming in Python and experience/knowledge in Machine Learning/Semantic analysis.
  • Good understanding of the principled evaluation of ML models.
