About the Role:
As the Director of Sustainability Initiatives at Leather Working Group, you will play a critical role in shaping the organization's strategic direction and driving the development of sustainable leather practices globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Director in developing and implementing the organization's strategic plan, focusing on sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Develop and execute a training strategy for leather manufacturers and supply chain actors to promote best practices and prepare for LWG audits.
- Oversee the management and development of the LWG Sustainability Standards, working closely with industry subject matter experts and technical teams.
- Line manage the Standards team, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Executive Committee and Senior Management Team to drive business growth and development, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in the leather or leather product, fashion and textiles, or agricultural supply chains.
- Strong understanding of sustainability and environmental practices, with a focus on supply chain management and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Program and project management experience, with a focus on strategic planning and implementation.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both in the UK and overseas.
