Research Nurse

A highly motivated registered adult nurse is sought after to join our research delivery team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of research delivery, working predominantly on cardiac device studies, supported by a Senior research nurse and working within a sub-team of nurses and research support staff.
Main Responsibilities
Competence in the skills of venepuncture and IV cannulation is essential. The successful candidate will maintain and complete source documentation and oversee the preparation of study activity. Record patients' medical history and current health status at research clinic attendance. Perform phlebotomy, monitor vital signs and perform other specialized nursing procedures as appropriate to the specific needs of the study and research subject.
Management Responsibilities
The selected candidate will participate in and coordinate the planning, development, and implementation of clinical protocols in accordance with research parameters. Plan and carry out protocols for the screening, recruitment, and retention of clinical research subjects, instructing subjects on treatment methods and protocol. Undertake appropriate data collection systems and procedures, specimen collection, processing, and recording of clinical data and/or specimen samples as required by established study protocol. Update the research database with clinical data.
Education and Training
The ideal candidate will be committed to ongoing professional development and will be expected to keep up to date and comply with departmental and Trust policies and NHS developments for the management of clinical research. Regular attendance at courses and study days is required as deemed relevant to the post. The selected candidate will act as a personal and professional role model at all times and maintain a Personal Development Plan in discussions with their line manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting with senior staff for support and clinical supervision.
Professional Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be required to comply with ICH GCP and will be expected to maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety. They will be responsible for reporting incidents to ensure patients are safe throughout their research journey. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and to treat patients and colleagues with respect and dignity.
