Job Opportunity

Sterlings is seeking a skilled Database Support Specialist to join their EMEA Technology team. The ideal candidate will have experience in building and operating highly available, complex customer-facing systems at scale in a 24x7 environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and monitor SQL Server systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize false alarms.
  • Perform regular patching and maintenance of SQL Servers, and deploy database change scripts provided by third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with Application Support and other technology stakeholders to drive support for the Microsoft SQL Server estate.
  • Develop and implement proactive solutions to address performance issues, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, and index/query changes.
  • Assist in the migration of databases from on-premise to cloud technologies like AWS.

Requirements:

  • Experience with clustering, disaster recovery, and high availability.
  • Knowledge of database security and enterprise monitoring solutions such as Nagios and HP Arcsight.
  • Strong understanding of automation tools like Ansible and Git/Github for code repository management.

Work Environment:
