Head Gardener

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head Gardener to lead our gardens in the Heart of Cornwall portfolio, managing and caring for three exceptional gardens at Trelissick, Glendurgan, and Trerice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 11 staff and over 50 garden volunteers to deliver high-quality garden maintenance and conservation.
• Develop and implement a conservation management plan for the gardens, working closely with the property teams and external experts.
• Work with the visitor experience team to enhance visitor engagement and access to the gardens.
• Manage budgets and resources to ensure quality delivery and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Significant practical horticultural experience, supported by relevant qualifications (RHS level 3 or above).
• Experience of managing a diverse garden throughout the seasons and excellent knowledge of plants and plant care.
• Knowledge and understanding of conservation of historic landscapes and ability to work with key management documents.
• Good communication and leadership skills, with experience of managing and supporting teams.
