Underwriter Role at Aspen Insurance

Aspen Insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join their team in London. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, with a focus on Facultative Reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to strategy development and planning to ensure relevancy, compliance, and optimal delivery
  • Support the implementation of underwriting strategies to enable delivery of overall business targets
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
  • Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Establish, strengthen, and develop relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues
  • Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated underwriting authority
  • Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
Requirements:
  • Broad experience of working in an underwriting environment within a specialized/complex underwriting area
  • Experience of resolving complex underwriting queries
  • Specific professional qualifications at a level of degree or equivalent
  • ACII (or equivalent) qualified or progress towards completion of insurance qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, e.g., Excel, and other departmental software packages
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
