Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller Assistant to join our Finance team at DF Capital. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller with a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, including management and financial reporting duties, assisting on business-wide projects, and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in IFRS 9, IFRS 16, and hedge accounting. You will also be proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to use complex formulas, PIVOT tables, and graphs. Additionally, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-Finance colleagues.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of different reporting requirements, including year-end accounts, interim results, trading updates, Board & ExCo reporting, monthly management accounts, and taxation. You will also assist the Financial Controller in preparing consolidated and company accounts to a high-standard and ensure the audit process runs smoothly and to schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Financial Controller with management and financial reporting duties
  • Assist on business-wide projects, including preparation of year-end and half-year accounts
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, including IFRS 9, IFRS 16, and hedge accounting
  • Prepare tax returns (VAT, CIT, ERS, P11D etc) and manage the Group's tax affairs
  • Assist the Financial Controller in preparing consolidated and company accounts
  • Ensure the audit process runs smoothly and to schedule

Requirements

  • Qualified or certified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) – required
  • Audit background ideally in financial services – desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to use complex formulas, PIVOT tables, and graphs
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in IFRS 9, IFRS 16, and hedge accounting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
