Job Purpose

The Learning Support Assistant will play a vital role in supporting young people in overcoming barriers to learning and acquiring new skills. You will work closely with our team to provide guidance, support, and resources to help young people achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to young people to help them overcome learning barriers and achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team to develop and deliver learning programs that meet the needs of young people.
  • Assist with the administration of learning programs, including record-keeping and reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to young people on their personal and social development.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade A-C GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience of working with young people and related issues.
  • Awareness of, and a commitment to, the promotion of equal opportunities and the recognition of diversity.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience of working as a member of a team and evidence of the ability to work effectively with colleagues.

Location and Working Hours

Based in Her Majesty's Young Offenders Institute (HMYOI) Feltham. Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:45pm (including a 45-minute lunch break) and Friday 8:00am – 13:30pm.
