About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team at Swindon Borough Council. As a Public Health Specialist for Intelligence, you will play a key role in planning and leading on assigned projects and areas of reporting and analysis to meet health improvement, service delivery, and evaluation needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify, gather, collate, analyse, and interpret health-related data applicable to public health issues using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to obtain complex datasets.
  • Lead on the identification of public health needs using various methodologies.
  • Provide specialist health intelligence input to public health, the Council, and NHS in monitoring the health needs of the population and in strategic planning to meet those needs.

Person Specification

  • First degree in a numerate discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of statistics and statistical methods relevant to health.
  • Demonstrable experience of using statistical/analytical and/or epidemiological techniques to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
