We are seeking a highly skilled Service Charge Accountant to join our central finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the portfolio of service chargeable properties and ensuring year-end reconciliations are completed according to RICS regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare annual service charge budgets, including apportionments and on-account calculations.
  • Complete year-end closure and billing of balancing service charges to tenants.
  • Prepare year-end service charge reconciliations, including invoice collation, analysis of income and expenditure, journals, and accruals.
  • Review leases to ensure correct apportionments are applied.
  • Communicate variances to budget and statement of funds to internal management.
  • Liaise with Asset Managers, Building Managers, and External Management Agents.
  • Review and code invoices according to program.
  • Complete year-end closure and billing of balancing service charges to tenants.
  • Monitor cost on a regular basis and compare against budgets.
  • Reconcile demised utility recharges based on collated meter readings and post journals to credit service charge liability.
  • Enhance efficiency of service charge processes.
  • Respond to tenant queries in a timely manner.
  • Assist with General Ledger maintenance.
Requirements
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years' Service Charge accounting experience within a commercial property environment.
  • Have previous experience in handling property-based accountancy packages, such as TRAMPS/MRI QUBE/YARDI, along with solid Excel skills and high IT literacy.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative, be adaptable, with good organization skills, and be able to plan their workload and resolve problems efficiently.
