Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure delivery team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our data centre infrastructure. This includes installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment, as well as collaborating with our network engineering and technical program manager teams to ensure smooth rollout of new designs and products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment, including routers, servers, and switches.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to remove project obstacles and ensure timely delivery.
  • Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures and diagnosing hardware and network problems.
  • Ability to travel within geographical work area, up to 20% travel outside traditional work area may be required.

A day in the life of a Data Centre Infrastructure Specialist is exciting and varied, with a range of responsibilities including patching fibre connections, troubleshooting link issues, and collaborating with multiple teams to deliver projects.

About the team:

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Recognized academic or industry qualification (CCNA, JNCIA, degree or relevant work experience).
  • Ability to specify power and cooling requirements, participate in hardware racking/stacking, and actively contribute to the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Knowledge in TCP/IP networking and proficient in troubleshooting networking, network cabling and configuration, optic types, and test equipment, including VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
  • Significant background in large-scale datacentre network implementations and support.
  • Several years of experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
  • Proficient in IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies (a plus).
