Job Title: Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Research Midwife to join our team at the NHS. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing research studies across multiple speciality areas within obstetrics/maternity.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Disseminate information and educate colleagues on research within the Trust.
  • Liaise with Trust and multi-disciplinary research teams.
  • Provide advice on the organisation and management of research in progress.
  • Identify and screen eligible patients for participation in research projects.
  • Facilitate informed consent and recruitment of research participants.
  • Work with staff to develop strategies to overcome barriers to recruitment.
  • Be aware of ethical considerations of research and act as patients' advocate at all times.
  • Be fully conversant with the requirements of the project protocol in relation to patient management, data collection, and safety reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records and undertake data management, including the use of data software packages.
  • Assist with dissemination and publication of research findings.
  • Contribute to activities, events, and training within the research team.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice at a clinical level and maintain overall standard of care for patients at all times.
  • Act as a resource for local staff at the participating site in relation to research projects.
  • Keep appropriate staff informed of the progress of research projects.
  • Maintain an awareness of current advances in research and midwifery practice.
  • Continue professional development, keeping updated with current clinical practice to maintain professional registration.
  • Maintain links with other research midwives across the network to develop and share knowledge and provide mutual support.
  • Attend local and national meetings in relation to research as required.
Person Specification:
  • Registered Midwife
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office/EDCL
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
  • University Degree in healthcare-related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Midwifery or Research
Experience:
  • Experience of 2 years clinical midwifery
  • Experience of liaison with staff at all levels in the NHS/Universities
  • Experience of conducting or facilitating research or audit
  • Experience of leading the development of research projects
  • Supervision of research teams
  • Experience of managing research projects
  • Able to demonstrate accurate and relevant documentation to a high standard
  • Understanding of clinical research, including methodologies, ethics, law, drug development
  • Knowledge and understanding of research governance regulations and guidance and associated good clinical practice
  • Skills in administration of research and project management
  • Skills in the management of data (statistical analysis, report generation, and data validation)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibility to meet the needs of the service
  • Willingness and ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
Salary:

£37,338 to £44,962 per annum pro rata
