About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Acute Speech and Language Therapy Team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to patients with speech, language, and swallowing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy to inpatients, working independently to assess, treat, and manage patients with complex communication and swallowing needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, using evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning to inform your practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care and effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of service initiatives and organizational objectives, using your expertise to drive quality improvement and innovation.
  • Support junior staff and students, providing clinical education and supervision to ensure the development of future generations of speech and language therapists.

Requirements

  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
  • Health and Care Professions Council Licence to Practice.
  • Completion of accredited postgraduate dysphagia qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with adult clients with acute onset of speech and swallowing difficulties.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
