The successful candidate will lead on technical assessments and advice to Local Planning Authorities on the suitability of surface water drainage proposals for new development, working closely with the Flood & Water Manager to ensure the council continues to fulfill its role as statutory consultee in the planning system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with applicants to promote the implementation of sustainable drainage systems on new developments;
  • Deputising for the Flood & Water Manager when required;
  • Providing professional technical responses to development applications ensuring that drainage systems are sustainable and sufficiently effective in protecting communities from flooding;
  • Leading and providing technical guidance on surface water management strategies;
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify and develop innovative approaches to reducing flood risk;

Our ideal candidate will be a highly skilled professional with expertise in surface water drainage and a passion for making a difference in their community. In return, we offer a competitive salary of £54,000 - £63,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including local government pension scheme, employee assistance programme, and ongoing training and development opportunities.
