Chief Legal Officer / General Counsel

Citizen Zoo is seeking a seasoned legal professional to join its Board of Directors as Chief Legal Officer (CLO) or General Counsel (GC).

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate governance, legal compliance, risk management, and advising boards or senior leadership on complex legal matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight on legal matters
  • Mentoring the CEO on legal obligations, contracts, and other legal needs
  • Reviewing and advising on organisational policies
  • Ensuring legal compliance with relevant regulations
  • Providing guidance on legal risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Offering legal guidance on potential disputes involving suppliers, partners, or other stakeholders

As a not-for-profit community interest company (CIC) focused on nature restoration and urban rewilding, Citizen Zoo requires a legal professional with a strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a senior legal position in a corporation or non-profit, with a demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice to boards of directors.

Board members are regularly invited to lead networking events to support organisational growth and project launches, as well as opportunities to meet high-net-worth funders and investors.
