StokeonTrent, Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom IRIS - Networx Services Full time
Job Title: Specialist Children's Worker

IRIS - Networx Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Children's Worker to join our team. As a Specialist Children's Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a frontline one-to-one service for children and young people (aged 5 – 19) who have been impacted by domestic abuse.

About the Role:

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise and compassion. As a Specialist Children's Worker, you will be responsible for providing person-centred support to young people in their own abusive relationships. You will work closely with other agencies to ensure that all relevant parties are working together to effectively safeguard children and young people at highest risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Take responsibility for the efficient and effective management of all children and young people (CYP) referred, carrying out initial contact and assessment of risk.
  2. Assess the needs of CYP affected by domestic abuse to plan and deliver effective and focused intervention, that prioritises their safeguarding and protection and achieves positive outcomes.
  3. Use evidence-based tools (such as the SafeLives young people's risk identification checklist, or RIC) to identify and assess the risks and needs of young victims in abusive relationships.
  4. Work within a multi-agency framework (including the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), Family Welfare Court and local safeguarding partnership) to ensure CYP are at the heart of their response to domestic abuse.
  5. Assist CYP through the criminal justice system, preparing reports for court and attending where necessary and liaise with other agencies as appropriate.
  6. Represent both the company and the child in statutory meetings, such as core groups and Child Protection conferences as required, so that risks can be shared and appropriate safeguards can be put in place.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent, such as a relevant degree)
  • A minimum of 1 year experience of working with children or young people providing either one-to-one or group work/activities
  • SafeLives YPVA qualification or the willingness to work towards one (we'll fund this and support you to complete it)
  • Experience of delivering support to children and young people, recognising individual needs, e.g. developmental stage and any additional learning needs
  • Experience of managing safeguarding concerns
  • Understanding of what great customer service is and excellent communication skills
  • The ability to fulfil contractual commitments for commissioned services
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and demands
  • Able to drive and have access to a vehicle for business use
  • Enhanced DBS check
What We Offer:

As a Specialist Children's Worker with IRIS - Networx Services, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people affected by domestic abuse. You will be part of a dedicated team that is passionate about providing high-quality services to vulnerable individuals. We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including enhanced DBS check and access to training and development opportunities.
