SEND Specialist Tutor Job Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to deliver bespoke tuition packages on a 1:1 basis to young people with SEND who cannot access mainstream education.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and creative tutor to support children and young people with SEND in Solihull. Many children with SEND have been disengaged with their learning, and we aim to re-engage them in their education.

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will create, plan, and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupils' education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way.

Your goal will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, continue their educational development, and return to school.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver 1:1 tailored lessons to pupils with SEND
  2. Support pupils to re-engage in their learning and develop their educational skills
  3. Work closely with Prospero Teaching to monitor pupil progression and submit weekly reports
Requirements
  1. QTS or equivalent
  2. UK classroom teaching experience
  3. PECS/Makaton training preferred but not essential
  4. Be creative, patient, and willing to think outside the box
  5. Experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
Eligibility
  1. Hold the right to work in the UK
  2. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  3. Provide two professional child-related references
