About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planning Manager to join our team. As a key member of our planning function, you will be responsible for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
  • Support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs, and the overall contribution to the broader company goals.
  • Support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
  • Monitor the works scheduling process to ensure it is undertaken in accordance with approved procedures and captures work efficiency data to the prescribed standard.
  • Manage work schedules to optimize resource deployment across the delivery teams and achieve comprehensive work plan delivery.
  • Provide information as requested regarding work plans/achievements.
  • Capture changes arising in required business processes.
  • Manage joint MIMS process and user reviews with network rail staff.
  • Assess scheduling staff competencies and instigate remedial action if necessary.
  • Identify changes to the infrastructure and revise work schedules.
  • Monitor the effective identification and management of all risks associated with delivery.
Requirements
  • Grounded in all types of planning techniques.
  • Ability to undertake risk analysis.
  • Good interpersonal skills for working within a matrix organization.
  • Good MS Office skills, MIMS, and P3e.
  • Experience in works planning and scheduling within the operational railway environment.
  • Computer literate (PPS, QEI).
  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful planning of projects and programmes in the infrastructure sector.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
