Transport Operations Manager

Clark Resourcing Solutions is currently assisting our Equipment Rental Specialist client in sourcing a full-time Transport Controller covering the South East depots and staff.

Our successful candidate will be reporting to the Operations Support Manager as part of a team of two Transport Controllers looking after the North and South of the UK, you will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance of the fleet and drivers ensuring the business is compliant within the transport function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review of daily checks and address issues identified
  • Tacho compliance, coaching and recommending action for addressing non-conformities
  • Ensure currency of driving licence checks
  • Daily review of PCNs, speeding and parking fines and follow-up action where required
  • Deliver driver inductions and training
  • Monitor attendance at mandatory training, including CPC, FORS and IPAF
  • Post-accident investigations to establish root cause and required action / training
  • Maintain log of commercial vehicles
  • End of lease vehicle checks
  • Ensure roadworthiness of the fleet
  • Regular maintenance / servicing / MoTs / tailgates
  • Vehicle spot checks
  • Arrange spot hires and monitor off-hires / approval for extension of spot hire
  • Ensure all spot hire vehicles are compliant (insurance / tolls / restrictions)

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Transport background with a thorough understanding of all compliance-related issues
  • IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Valid driving licence
  • Flexible and willing to travel nationally and work in different locations across the UK as required by the role
  • Approachable, with a desire to help resolve issues
