Role Overview

AWE is currently recruiting for an Experimental Physicist to join the Radiation Science Group. The successful candidate will be required to undertake frequent visits to overseas facilities to perform radiation effects experiments on pulsed power platforms and nuclear research reactors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the design and fielding of experiments, including the development and fielding of diagnostic techniques.
  2. Work with a variety of teams to design bespoke experiments to support both core product and modelling programme.
  3. Undertake frequent visits to overseas facilities to perform radiation effects experiments.

Requirements

  1. A strong degree in Physics or a related subject with a focus on applied science.
  2. A willingness to travel overseas is essential to participate in experimental campaigns.
  3. Experience with experiments at large test facilities.
  4. Working in a safe manner in laboratory environment.
  5. Familiar with designing and fielding novel diagnostics.
  6. Conversant in programming such as Python or C++.
  7. Exposure to Linux/HPC computer environments.
