Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Nurse Specialist at The Christie NHS FT, you will provide evidence-based individualized patient care, taking into account the patient's changing healthcare needs. You will also provide clinical leadership and expertise in haematology oncology, acting as a resource to patients and staff. Your role will involve assessing patients' adverse events to therapy to enable appropriate management and symptom control. Additionally, you will maintain skills in advanced communication for all aspects of patient assessment, care, and support.

Management Responsibilities

You will provide line management responsibilities for the CNS team, supporting their professional development. You will also provide leadership for the regional nursing forum in the haematology arena.

Training and Education

You will undertake continuing professional development to ensure your skills remain optimal and new elements can be added to your skills portfolio. You will assist in the additional training needs of staff and participate in their continuing education development. You will take responsibility for lifelong learning and personal development through clinical supervision, appraisal, and actively engaging with learning development opportunities. You will contribute to the development and dissemination of new knowledge by submitting papers for publication and/or abstracts for haematology conferences. You will ensure the provision of care is in accordance with The Christie NHS Trust policy and procedures guidelines. You will promote patient-centered services for patients affected by cancer and work in collaboration with allied health professionals in the trust and in the community. You will promote equality and value diversity.
