About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Healthy Weight Nurse Specialist to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our school health team, you will play a vital role in providing effective and comprehensive weight management services to support severely obese children and their parents/carers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people where weight is identified as a concern, providing evidence-based and safe levels of intervention.
  • Support parents/carers, young people, and children around healthy lifestyles and deliver the Healthy Weight Offer for their allocated caseload.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school health team and partner agencies to support healthy weight in children and young people, as well as meeting statutory obligations around safeguarding.
  • Develop and implement service development within the team, facilitating and supporting the implementation of new initiatives and programs.
Requirements
  • First-level Registered Nurse Adult/Child qualification.
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification (SN/HV).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering health promotion and health education programs.
  • Leadership skills and understanding of professional responsibilities within the team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain key relationships with colleagues and other disciplines both internally and externally.
