Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team in Sydney.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. They will be responsible for overseeing aspects of safety within our operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety protocols, risk management, and legal compliance across our transport and logistics services.

About the Role:
  • Safety Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Manage incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
    • Facilitate safety training and education programs for all staff, including emergency preparedness, hazard communication, and injury prevention.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards in line with relevant regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Keep updated records of all certifications, permits, licenses, and training required by law.
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and investigations.
    • Ensure compliance programs are robust and meet all legislative and customer requirements.
  • Work within a continuous improvement and risk management framework, identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards, on an ongoing basis.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, People & Culture, to integrate safety and compliance best practices.
    • Build strong relationships with staff and supply chain partners to foster an open dialogue on safety and compliance consultation.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Analyse incident data and generate reports to identify hazards, trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
    • Maintain safety-related records, including compliance documentation, incident reports, and safety audits.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • A minimum Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety and compliance role, preferably within the transport and logistics industry.
    • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
    • Knowledge of relevant transport and safety regulations, such as the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and fatigue management.
    • Demonstrated commitment to safety.

Estimated Salary: AU$80,000 - AU$110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
