Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Learning Mentor to join our team at 1st Choice Staff Recruitment. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in achieving their full potential.

About the Position:

This is a full-time, temporary ongoing position working term time only. You will be based in the outskirts of Biggleswade and will be responsible for delivering high-quality out of class support for students with SEND needs. Your primary focus will be on promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be the first point of contact for students with SEND needs.
  • Proactively support students with SEND outside of the class in line with their needs.
  • Develop a range of lunch time activities to engage students and promote social engagement.
  • Promote and lead on social events to encourage positive interaction and engagement of students.
  • Liaise with curriculum areas on an ongoing basis to support the safety, well-being and achievement of students.
  • Ensure that displays and resources are kept up to date and welcoming.

Requirements:
  • Current Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one.
  • English and Maths or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
  • Experience of working with a range of young people with SEND in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity issues in education.
  • Ability to work effectively with students on a one-to-one basis.
