Job Title: Building Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at Torchlight Recruitment Solutions Ltd. As a Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in providing professional advice on property and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure buildings meet client requirements, sustainability, safety, and preservation standards.
  • Assist in delivering projects within timescales, budget constraints, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct site investigations, establish preferred solutions, advise on sustainability, and manage health and safety issues.
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications to enable clients to obtain competitive tender quotations.
  • Prepare designs that meet client requirements, including budget and timescale.
  • Prepare detailed plans and advise on construction types available to clients, instructing architects to prepare detailed plans and help provide estimates for work and dealing with planning applications, property law, building regulations, and other legal matters.
  • Attend project and design meetings and site visits.
  • Work sections, advise on material selection, provide space planning services, and advise on furniture/equipment selection.
  • Monitor works on site to ensure they are carried out as per agreed design, assist the clerk of works/site project manager in monitoring quality on site.
  • Keep project-related documentation in compliance with business management systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Undertake condition surveys, assess and report on building defects, schedule of conditions, and undertake quadrennial building inspections.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in design and construction projects £1-5M.
  • Good all-round design expertise using British, European, and international standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Chartered or associated member of RICS.
  • SC Clearance required, applicants will need to undergo security clearance vetting if not already security cleared to a minimum of SC level.
Location:

Monmouth (potential for hybrid working as projects are UK-wide).

Salary:

£55,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience or qualified status) + annual bonus + benefits + car allowance.
