About the RoleThe Senior Performance Advisor will be responsible for providing expert technical advice on performance assessment and analysis, working closely with senior colleagues to identify business intelligence questions and ensure high-quality performance conversations take place.
You will support the Corporate Leadership Team and Strategic Board in building their understanding of performance and impact, and take steps to improve performance using evidence, data, and intelligence.
The role will also involve working with corporate business functions to provide advice on strategic performance management, helping senior leaders learn from good practice in other places, sectors, and industries, and driving performance across corporate functions.
Key Responsibilities- Working with data developers, performance officers, and BI analysts to provide high-quality analysis and advice, often using complex analytical techniques.
- Providing advice to senior leaders on strategic performance management, helping them learn from good practice and drive performance across corporate functions.
- Collaborating with leaders to understand their requirements and identifying where performance insights can inform business decisions, drive improvements, or shape future plans.
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex pieces of work, gather insights, and support the development of new mechanisms to assess impact and measure performance.
- Supporting strategic reporting at the corporate level and leading deep-dives into key issues.
- Providing senior leaders and stakeholders with the information and business intelligence required for effective leadership, governance, commissioning, and decision-making.
- Producing high-quality analysis that draws on a range of sources and uses the most appropriate medium to visualize data and tell compelling, actionable stories with clear recommendations.
- Ensuring performance management information is timely and robust, used to strengthen accountability across the organization.
- Enabling data to be accessed by colleagues through the development of self-serve capabilities.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas.
- Significant experience in delivering high-quality, complex interpretation and analysis of data that impacts strategic decision-making, preferably in local government or a public sector setting.
- Extensive experience of carrying out complex projects that have made tangible improvements, as well as identifying opportunities for data and analytics to solve business problems and inform future strategic direction.
- Knowledge of governance requirements around quantitative and qualitative research methodology, including excellent working knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
- Experience of leading teams within a matrix-management approach, outside of traditional line management arrangements.
- Demonstrates excellent awareness and understanding of the practical implementation of the Data Protection Act.
