British Rowing – Governance Programme Manager (Fixed term contract)

British Rowing is seeking a Governance Programme Manager to drive meaningful strategic and operational change, playing a key role in the implementation of a new governance structure. This is an exciting time to join British Rowing as we embark on our journey of transformational governance reform.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the project management of a new governance framework, supporting the Governance and Integrity Lead in the implementation of new structures and processes.
  2. Coordinate and track the progress of key internal working groups to deliver the required changes.
  3. Review and draft British Rowing's governing documents and policies to ensure they are fit for purpose and align with relevant legal frameworks and Code for Sports Governance requirements.
  4. Assist the Governance and Integrity Lead with the recruitment of new Committee and Panel members, as well as their induction and ongoing support.
  5. Support the Governance and Integrity Lead with the planning of annual work plans for each Committee and Panel, drafting the overarching schedule and associated agenda planners.
  6. Provide secretarial support to Committees and Panels, ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently in accordance with agreed internal and external standards.
  7. Review and redesign key governance policies and processes to maximize efficiency and quality service to the business.
  8. Implement a new governance portal, procured and implemented as a discreet work stream.
Mandatory Requirements
  1. Demonstrable effective project management experience in a governance-focused role.
  2. Clear understanding of corporate governance at a senior level and the importance of quality assurance and governance in driving continuous improvement.
  3. Ability to create strong project plans and an excellent working knowledge of project management frameworks.
  4. Efficient in keeping detailed records and established methods to report on progress and track success.
  5. Emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively with senior staff, Committee/Panel chairs and members, gaining their trust and confidence.
  6. Ability to adapt to changes in direction and excellent problem-solving skills.
  7. Demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making.
  8. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  10. Ability to research, collate, analyse and disseminate information clearly and in a timely manner.
  11. Team player who enjoys managing a complex network of stakeholders.
  12. Understanding of the sport sector or not-for-profit organisations.

Salary: £50-55k per annum (depending on skills and experience)

Type: Full time, 12 Months Fixed-Term Contract
