About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and creative Sous Chef to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer in the UK. As a key member of our culinary team, you will collaborate with our chefs to craft flavourful dishes that nourish both body and mind.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Chef in food preparation, production, and service, ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients, to continuously enhance the menu offerings and overall dining experience.
  • Oversee stock control and ordering to maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing waste, and support the Head Chef in administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and maintaining records of food costs and inventory.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to execute special events, themed dinners, and other culinary initiatives, and stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and new ingredients.
  • Foster a positive working environment by demonstrating leadership qualities, effective communication, and teamwork, and support the Head Chef in maintaining a high-performing kitchen team.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a similar role within a contract catering company or educational institution.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certifications from a recognized culinary institute.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Fun and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
