About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Academic Instructor in Foundation Studies at Brockenhurst College. As a key member of our academic staff, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
  • Take on the responsibilities of a Foundation Personal Tutor, providing pastoral support and guidance to learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) working at Entry to Level 1.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, and provide timely reports and reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students, ensuring that their learning experience is tailored to their individual needs.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery, and future planning and development of the curriculum, ensuring that it remains relevant and effective in meeting the needs of our students.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification.
  • Record of continuous professional and career development.
  • Experience of high-quality teaching to both 16-25-year-olds and adult students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience of delivering effective pastoral support and the development of Individual Learning Plans.
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop effective course content across the Foundation curriculum offer.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in SEND.
  • Creative, supportive, and positive approach to teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Flexible team player who has the ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure from a range of demands.
