Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant II to join our team at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining the General Ledger, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with the HCFS TPL Lockbox program.

About the Role:
The Staff Accountant II will assist in the monthly close process, including reviewing and submitting journal entries for approval. You will work closely with business unit finance staff to ensure journal entry backup is complete, accurate, and compliant with accounting standards. Additionally, you will prepare project budget information and upload it to PeopleSoft, as well as review and analyze payments made to the Bursars office.

Responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly journal entries and assist in the monthly close process
* Work with business unit finance staff to ensure journal entry backup is complete and accurate
* Prepare project budget information and upload it to PeopleSoft
* Review and analyze payments made to the Bursars office
* Prepare disbursement check payments for subsidiaries
* Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
* Monitor and reconcile the fixed asset schedule
* Process consultant agreements, purchase orders, and invoices in Buyways
* Recommend improvements to financial controls and reporting
* Provide management with needed information and assist in problem resolution
* Prepare monthly Financial Reports for Board meetings

Requirements:
* Associate's Level Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
* 2-4 years of accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, or related experience
* Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial documents
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year (dependent on experience)
