Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Policy Planner to join our team at FOX MORRIS GROUP LTD. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our city through the development and implementation of effective planning policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Policy Development: Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of the Liverpool Local Plan, Supplementary Planning Documents, and other planning policy documents.
  • Team Management: Manage the work of external consultants and public consultation exercises, and supervise and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the work of staff on named projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with other local authorities, the City Region Authority, organisations, and key stakeholders in respect of key cross-boundary and strategic planning policy issues.
  • Public Inquiries: Prepare and present evidence at public inquiries and/or examinations on behalf of the Council in a timely manner.
  • Training and Development: Mentor and provide guidance and training to Planning Officers, Planning Assistants, and Apprentices in the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Demonstrable experience of preparing, implementing, and monitoring Local Plan policies in an urban context.
  • Knowledge: Detailed working knowledge and experience of planning policy legislation and processes and procedures.
  • Skills: Experience of preparing Supplementary Planning Documents, Policy Advice, or Practice Notes, and presenting evidence at a Local Plan Examination or Public Inquiry.
