NES Fircroft is currently seeking a highly skilled Principal Process Safety Specialist to join their team in Norwich. This is a 12 month+ PAYE contract opportunity, offering a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum.

As a key member of the QSHE team, you will be responsible for providing safety engineering support to our SNS operation. Your duties will include:

  1. Carrying out competent in-house safety studies in support of operations and projects;
  2. Chairing and facilitating safety studies such as Total Risk Management, HAZID, Bowtie, ALARP;
  3. Development of Barrier Diagrams (Bowties);
  4. Consequence modelling using DNV GL PHAST or FLARESIM software;
  5. Mini Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) including Event and Fault Tree development;
  6. Hazardous Area Classification;
  7. Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment;
  8. Preparing Safety Case Material Changes;
  9. Conducting 5 yearly Thorough Reviews;
  10. Providing coaching, guidance and advice to operations, engineering and other support teams to ensure compliance with applicable legislation;
  11. Liaising with regulatory bodies on matters of HSE and providing guidance on matters of regulatory compliance;
  12. Maintaining current in changes to HSE legislations, codes, guidelines and industry standards;

This role requires:

  • A higher technical qualification within an engineering field, such as Process Safety, Chemical or Mechanical;
  • At least 10 years' experience in Safety Engineering in the Oil & Gas Industry;
  • Software knowledge of MS Office, PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie XP, FLARESIM;
  • The ability to prepare technical reports and letters, work to deadlines, and interact with Senior Management and regulatory bodies;

You will have the opportunity to engage with operations and projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and approved codes of practice. Additionally, you will maintain current in changes to HSE legislations, codes, guidelines and industry standards.
