Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse needs. This includes developing and delivering specialized instruction, adapting curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student, and collaborating with general education teachers and other professionals to ensure a cohesive educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement IEPs that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Develop and deliver specialized instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure a cohesive educational experience
  • Use various assessments and data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure a collaborative approach to student success
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Connecticut State certification with appropriate endorsement(s) (065, 165)
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities
