Examination Standards Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chair of Examiners to join our team at Pearson. As a Chair of Examiners, you will be responsible for maintaining standards across different specifications and methods of assessment, from year to year, and reporting back to the Assessment team.

Purpose
As a Chair of Examiners, your role will involve working closely with the Principal Examiner and other stakeholders to ensure that our assessment delivery system is of the highest quality. You will be responsible for providing support and feedback to Principal Examiners and Moderators, and for reviewing and approving the team of supervisors.
Core Services and Expectations
- Act at all times in a way which will not bring Pearson into disrepute.
- Read all Pearson policies and guidance prior to undertaking contracted activities.
- Respect the confidentiality of centres and learners.
- Attend any and all meetings or training sessions provided, relevant to your role.
- Adhere to deadlines given by Pearson and ensure that all work is carried out to the best of your ability.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional manner.
- Have personal IT equipment capable of running Pearson software, relevant malware, and virus protection software.
- Communicate with Pearson and its centres in a timely manner.
- Raise any concerns regarding malpractice or safeguarding issues.
Role Specific Services and Expectations
- Support with queries and feedback on examination days.
- Provide support and feedback for Principal Examiners/Moderators.
- Review and approve the team of supervisors in conjunction with the Assessment team.
- Attend and contribute to standardisation and pre-award meetings.
- Sampling marking/moderation from Principal Examiners/Moderators.
- Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.
- Complete a Chair of Examiners report following the awarding discussion.
- Submit reports on the performance of candidates/series.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Experience:
- Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
- History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
- Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training related to standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector.
Qualifications:
A UK recognised teaching qualification.
