Experienced Children's Emergency Department Nurse

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Staff Nurse to join our Children's Emergency Department team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading by example, and contributing to the development of our nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional leadership, guidance, and advice to junior nurses and healthcare assistants.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with other disciplines to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.
- Assist in the development of clinical protocols and ensure they are reviewed regularly.
- Keep accurate and legible patient records in line with professional and legal requirements.
- Promote effective working relationships and communications with consultants, medical staff, and other multi-agency professionals.
- Work across all emergency departments of the Trust, including minor injury units, on a rotational or demand-led programme.
- Ensure centrally set quality standards are maintained.
- Undertake nursing assessments competently and act as the identified nurse for a group of patients.
- Supervise members of staff in giving and maintaining high standards of care.
- Participate in research projects within the ward/unit and participate in the development and delivery of training materials/programmes.
- Provide training and support to new and junior staff in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Take a lead role in monitoring the quality of care in your local area and assist in the investigation and resolution of complaints.
- Regularly assess and act on the views of patients, relatives, and staff about the standards of care experienced by recipients of the service.
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role and setting.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of clinical protocols and quality standards.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
