The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Dairy Herd Manager to join our progressive and forward-thinking dairy enterprise in Pembrokeshire. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of our Holstein Friesian herd, achieving 10,000 litres mainly off forage.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage the milking routine, production levels, and milk quality of the herd
  • Monitor the herd health and well-being, including routine vet visits and vaccinations
  • Oversee the breeding programme and the management of calves and youngstock
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on herd health, milk production, and breeding
  • Ensure a high level of health and safety and compliance with industry regulations
  • Proactively manage a small team
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in milking cattle
  • Practical knowledge and experience of dairy farm duties, including DIY AI and foot trimming
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Driven and committed with a positive mindset to health and safety and animal welfare
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A problem solver with the ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Resilient and flexible to support the daily needs of the business
  • Happy to embrace change and invest time in growing with the business
  • Full UK driving licence
