We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Officer to lead our Legal and Democratic Services department. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our council and delivering our strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Legal and Democratic Services department

• Ensure the effective delivery of legal, political, democratic, governance, and information risk and security operations

• Manage complex legal and statutory responsibilities, including acting as the Council's Monitoring Officer, Chief Legal Officer, and Senior Information Risk Owner

• Lead the Council's Registrar function, fraud and counter terrorism, and information risk and security

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a local government or public sector setting

• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team

• A deep understanding of legal and democratic governance, with the ability to provide strategic guidance and advice
