About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to join our team at Counter Terrorism Policing. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to make a real difference in the field of database management.

Job Description

This role involves providing full lifecycle production assistance for development, infrastructure, testing and production, managing and maintaining SQL Server database environments across various platforms according to best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within a service team monitoring MS-SQL databases, applications servers, log files and disk space.
  • Be the SME and point of escalation for all database related issues within the Application Support function.
  • Manage the database layer across the estate, supporting multiple high-priority instances of SQL Server in some cases hosting multiple databases.
  • Resolve issues with databases, working with third party suppliers to alter schemas, update indexes and plan updates.
  • Perform daily checks and maintenance duties.
  • Facilitate changes to the data layer and manage daily duties such as SQL queries and bulk data imports.
  • Evaluate and implement Microsoft patch release scheduling to ensure up-to-date database instances.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus, understanding internal and external customer needs and keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in database management, particularly with SQL Server.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with ITIL aligned environments and practices.
