About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable arts education senior leader to join our team at Brent Council. As the Head of Education, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our education programme, working closely with schools and other stakeholders to improve opportunities and outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic development of our education programme, including the planning and scheduling of all education projects.
  • Champion and build on our work in schools and with learning partners, extending existing relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Develop innovative education programmes that respond to need, including a creative careers pathway offer for secondary schools.
  • Manage the development and implementation of the evaluation framework for the department, and contribute to impact frameworks for the wider organisation.
  • Identify and develop new partnerships with funding bodies, educational institutions and local and national support organisations.
  • Actively contribute to our income generating plans and financial growth, in line with business plan targets.
  • Prepare annual budgets and set clear personal and departmental targets.
  • Ensure regular and accurate monthly/quarterly financial monitoring and reporting against targets, including year-end forecasting of income and expenditure.

  • Ability to motivate and empower a team with experience of effective performance management.

  • Experience of setting and monitoring annual budgets.
  • Experience of strategic and operational planning.
  • Ability to identify and build excellent professional relationships at a strategic level with key stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing successful marketing and sales campaigns and employing effective communication strategies.
  • High expectations, driven by experience in evaluation and an understanding of quality in arts and education practice.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
