Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Neurostimulation in Affective Disorders

We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our Translational Neurostimulation Laboratory, led by Professor Jacinta O'Shea. The successful candidate will be based in the University Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
The post is a fixed-term appointment, funded for one year. In addition to the salary, the University has introduced a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 a year (pro rata) for all staff on grades 1–10 of the main salary and grading structure.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will conduct studies of human brain plasticity using cognitive and physiological measures in healthy volunteers and in clinical populations with affective disorders. A core focus will be conducting and analysing multimodal brain stimulation experiments (combining behavioural, clinical, electrophysiological and neuroimaging readouts).
You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. clinical neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology), and have an excellent academic track record including publications appropriate to career stage. Experience of running experiments (behavioural, stimulation, imaging) in healthy adults and clinical cohorts is essential.
Key skills and qualifications include:
- Programming skills in Matlab and R
- Statistics and computational modelling
- Data processing and analysis
- Knowledge and experience of structured clinical interviewing for assessing affective disorder
