We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Economic Development, Commercialisation and Policy Team (CEDP) in connecting our research and skills development capacity to the growth ambitions of key industrial clusters and sectors.

About the Role

The Head of Sector and Place Development will provide leadership capacity within CEDP, working closely with professional staff and colleagues across the University to develop plans, interventions, and projects that can deliver new partnerships and investment into the University.

This role requires a deep understanding of the opportunities to support growth in key sectors and clusters, as well as the ability to develop strategic partnerships and drive business engagement.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in economic development, commercialisation, or policy, with experience in leading teams and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to CEDP, connecting the University's research and skills development capacity to the growth ambitions of key industrial clusters and sectors.
  • Develop and implement plans, interventions, and projects that can deliver new partnerships and investment into the University.
  • Work closely with professional staff and colleagues across the University to identify opportunities for business engagement and partnership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, policymakers, and other influencers.
  • Contribute to the development of the University's economic development strategy, ensuring alignment with regional and national priorities.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary package, estimated at £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
