Job Overview

We are looking for a Technical Artist - Lighting to join our team at DNEG. The successful candidate will have a strong background in lighting, shading, and compositing.

About the Role
  • Responsibilities include feature animation, visual effects, and game industry production experience;
  • A strong background in Katana and Renderman is essential;
  • Scripting experience (Python, Lua, etc.) is required;
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent collaboration skills with a team of artists are necessary;
  • A solid understanding of a VFX or Feature Animation pipeline is crucial;
  • Knowledge of modern physically based rendering technology and pipelines is essential;
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with directors and other departments to ensure that the lighting requirements of the project are met;
  • Collaborate with the art department to create high-quality lighting setups;
  • Develop and implement new lighting techniques and technologies to enhance the visual quality of our productions;
  • Work closely with the rigging and modeling departments to ensure seamless integration of lighting into the overall production pipeline;
  • Maintain and update lighting assets and materials to ensure consistency and efficiency across all projects.
Requirements
  • Must have experience collaborating with a team of artists;
  • Experience lighting, shading and/or compositing is a plus;
  • Familiarity with Nuke is desirable;
  • The ability to prototype rapidly and deliver quick solutions is beneficial;
  • Previous work experience working in a fast-paced creative technology environment is an asset.
