About the Role:

We are looking for an Ecologist Specialist to join our team at WSP. As an Ecologist Specialist, you will provide technical advice, planning, and undertaking ecology surveys, including UKHab surveys and protected species surveys. You will also prepare tenders for various schemes and suites of habitat, botanical, and protected species surveys.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert technical advice and conducting ecology surveys.
- Preparing high-quality tenders for various projects.
- Client liaison and project management.
- Mentoring and training to the wider ecology team.
Key Requirements:
- A relevant academic qualification in a related field and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (mentoring available for upgrade to Full Membership).
- Protected species license(s) or other specialist skill sets with relevance to ecological consultancy.
- Experience in extended Phase 1 habitat/UKHab survey and protected species surveys.
- Experience in producing fee quotations and tenders.
- Experience in inputting into technical ecological reports.
- Experience in authoring Ecological Impact Assessments and Biodiversity Chapters for inclusion within Environmental Statements.
- Desirable experience of project managing medium to large schemes and projects.
- The ability to work in a collaborative team of ecologists and environmental professionals.
- Knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
- A desire to develop core ecological, project management, and consultancy skills.
