We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Biffa, a leading waste management company in the UK. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing process improvements to minimize downtime and optimize production. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including PPMs, reactive maintenance, and process improvements
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement repairs and maintenance activities
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement a program of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimize downtime and optimize production
  • Liaise with internal process engineers, Scada controllers, and external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work
  • Keep abreast of changes to Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation, and Company Policies to ensure defined standards and best practices are implemented

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Engineering Qualification Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ or equivalent
  • Previous health and safety training, IOSH
  • HNC/D Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
  • IOSHH Managing Safely (desirable)
  • Supervisory experience
  • DSEAR Awareness (desirable)
  • Proven welding experience (desirable)
