Job Title: Mechanical Service Technician

Job Location: Burton-On-Trent

Shifts: Monday to Sunday (flexibility to work weekends), Various (days, nights and weekends)

Hourly Rate: £14.88 Paye £18.75 Umbrella

Hours Per Week: Average 40 hours per week

Duration: Long term

Company Summary: Our client is a global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance.

Position Summary: As a Mechanical Service Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out routine mechanical maintenance of Rolling Stock, with a focus on mechanical maintenance and component changes. This position is key for the safe and reliable running of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work from written instruction (VMI)
  2. Work from Mechanical Engineering drawings, adhering to specific measurements
  3. Replace mechanical components according to engineering drawings
  4. Conduct routine fleet checks ensuring safe operation
  5. Perform oil changes

Person Profile:

  1. Ability to complete manual work
  2. Willingness to work shifts
  3. A mechanical understanding/background
  4. Ability to work within a team
  5. Capability to follow strict work orders
  6. Adherence to HSE guidelines

Qualifications: No formal qualification is required, but NVQ 2 or above is preferred.

Note: All applicants must pass a drug and alcohol test before being offered a position (this is standard procedure on Rail depots).
